Jeevan Aas Foundation is an NGO in India directly benefitting over 600,000 children and their families every year, through more than 250 live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 950 remote villages and slums across 25 states of India. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one’s rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. A child will go to school only if the family, particularly the mother, is assured of healthcare and empowered. Moreover, when an elder sibling is relevantly skilled to be employable and begins earning, the journey of empowerment continues beyond the present generation. Believing in the humanitarian values of empathy, equality, justice and the eternal triumph of the human spirit, JEEVAN AAS sets out to server in 2015 which humble beginnings. With a vision to inspire attitudinal shift in the society, taking a step at a time, JEEVAN AAS aims at making our homes and hence the society a happier place. Registered as a nonprofit organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, we are a team of believers who know that small beginnings can initiate a big change and the world can be transformed into a more idyllic and beautiful place to live. The team has worked unceasing striving to achieve what is set out for and if that calls for walking a few extra miles, we have not been deterred by it. Every change in the history of time has begun as a reckoning call by a single dreamer. The power of one has defined our civilizations from times immortal. Every movement at its inception is nothing but an imagination of change maker. VarshaGoel, president of JEEVAN AAS, the lady behind this revolutionary thought is our inspiration. Under her vision we pledged to create awareness about the basic issues that matter to our society i.e. health, education, women’s status and social upliftment of under privileged. As part of the cervical cancer awareness, initiative JEEVAN AAS has successfully partnered with hospitals, PSUs, member clubs, resident welfare associations, other partner NGOs to hold many seminars/campaigns/motivational programs to in Delhi/NCR region touching lives of more than 5 million people since inception. Any process of change can never be overnight. The organization is resilient and determined and as its pace in this movement is picking up, the fight is reaching to the masses. There is a sense of satisfaction of reaching out to more women everyday and at the same time, through them the sphere of influence gets bigger. Further, believing in the philosophy- “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”, we have started initiatives like Brilliant India, BetiBacho- BetiPadhao, Annapurna Yojna which not only focuses on financial assistance but also guidance and counseling to the under privileged children of class X and class XII to give them a fighting chance to fulfill their dreams. All these initiatives would not have been possible without the support of everyone involved with JEEVAN AAS, whether directly or indirectly. We would like to thank all these people, institutions and organizations and hope that they continue this endeavor and encourage others also to be part of this movement. We have encapsulated our vision and thoughts in these beautiful verses of celebration poet Shri Rabindranath Tagore.
